POTW (Player of the Week) Strategy Guide

Every Thursday, Konami releases new Player of the Week cards based on real-world football performances. These cards feature temporarily boosted stats and cost only 100 coins per spin. But are they worth it?

When to Spin POTW

• The featured player fills a weak spot in your squad. If your right wing is your weakest position and this week's POTW features a 95+ rated RWF - spin.
• Multiple strong cards in the same pack. If 3+ cards in the POTW pack are usable, the value-per-spin improves dramatically.
• You're free-to-play and saving for Epics is too slow. POTW is the most coin-efficient way to get high-rated cards quickly.

When to Skip POTW

• You already have that position covered. A 95-rated POTW winger does nothing when you already have a maxed Vinícius Jr.
• An Epic box you want is coming soon. If leaks suggest a Cruyff or Vieira rerelease, save every coin.
• The card has bad playstyle compatibility. A high-rated card with the wrong playstyle for your formation will underperform a lower-rated card with perfect compatibility.

Not every new drop deserves your coins. Here are the types of cards that consistently underperform despite the hype:

1. Slow Legends: Classic players like Pirlo, Xavi, and Iniesta have incredible passing stats but get overwhelmed by the current speed meta. They're fan favorites, not competitive picks.
2. One-dimensional Strikers: Players like Inzaghi who only score goals but don't contribute to build-up play. In the current meta, your striker needs to hold up the ball and create space for runners.
3. B-Tier Epics with better Standard alternatives: Some Epics (especially lower-rated legends) are barely better than fully maxed Standard cards that cost only GP. Always compare before you spin.
