In eFootball, acquiring a player is only the first step. To unlock their full potential, you must train them and allocate "Progression Points" to their stats. Here is how the system works.
Step 1: Leveling Up (Gaining Experience)
Before you can boost a player's stats, you need to level them up. A level 1 player has base stats, but as they level up, they earn Progression Points.
- Playing Matches: Players in your starting XI or on your bench earn Experience Points (EXP) after every match. Using a manager with an "Affinity" bonus (e.g., +300% EXP for young players) speeds this up massively.
- EXP Training Programs: These are consumable items (100, 1,000, 4,000, or 10,000 EXP chunks) that you can apply directly to a player from the "My Team" menu. You earn these programs by completing objectives, playing events, or releasing unwanted players.
Step 2: Player Progression (Allocating Points)
Once your player has leveled up and obtained Progression Points, go to My Team -> Players -> Select Player -> Player Progression.
You will see a list of categories (Shooting, Passing, Dribbling, Dexterity, Lower Body Strength, Aerial Strength, Defending, Goalkeeping). Adding points to a category upgrades specific underlying stats.
- Auto-Allocate: The game offers an "Action -> Auto-allocate" button. This will automatically distribute the points in a way that maximizes the player's Overall Rating (OVR) at their registered position. For beginners, this is highly recommended.
- Custom Allocation: Advanced players prefer to build custom stats. For example, if you have a fast winger, you might ignore "Auto-allocate" (which might waste points on passing) and dump all your points into Speed (Lower Body Strength) and Acceleration (Dexterity) to make him uncatchable.
Step 3: Manager Boosts
It's crucial to note that your player's stats in the menu are not their final in-game stats. When you put a player into your squad, their stats will receive a boost based on your Manager's proficiency (e.g., Pep Guardiola's 88 Possession Game proficiency will give all your players a massive +2 or +3 boost to most stats).
Resetting Progression
Made a mistake? Don't worry. Konami recently added the ability to reset a player's progression points. Currently, this costs GP (the free currency), allowing you to re-train a player infinitely if you want to test different builds.
